Book Marc Silverside

DJ · Promoter · Founder, Soul Brew

It started with mixtapes and spinning records for mates, then as events manager in his final year at university booking acts including T’Pau, Alison Moyet and Bad Manners. From there he went on to promote club nights and book and support artists ranging from The Prisoners, Rebel MC and K-Klass to Gilles Peterson and Utah Saints.

The best nights aren’t about genres or fashions — they’re about understanding people, atmosphere and what makes a dancefloor move.

Rooted in soul, Northern soul, ska and mod culture, his collection has grown to span Motown, R&B, funk, disco, house, hip hop, indie, Britpop, acid jazz, rare groove and dance classics — not because every event needs every genre, but because every audience deserves music curated for them.

It’s never about the DJ

The best DJs aren’t the ones with the biggest egos or the rarest records — they’re the ones who understand the room. Before every event, Marc works closely with clients to understand the atmosphere they want to create, the people they’ll be celebrating with, and the memories they want guests to leave with. On the night, experience takes over: reading the room, building energy, and finding exactly the right record at exactly the right moment. No pre-programmed playlists. No wedding package clichés. Just great music, played properly — the right tune, at the right moment, for the right people.

Experience matters

Before dedicating more of his time to music and events, Marc spent over thirty years in senior leadership and communication roles, working at executive level across some of the UK’s largest organisations. That experience shaped the qualities he brings to every event today: professionalism, preparation, attention to detail and, above all, an ability to understand people. Whether planning a wedding, a private celebration, a corporate event or a club night, the approach stays the same — listen carefully, understand what’s important, and create an experience people will remember long after the last record has finished.
